Even amid a global pandemic that has stopped folks from moving about freely for a big chunk of 2020, it looks like Pokemon GO has still managed to maintain its momentum and more!

Sensor Tower has released a new report on the mobile title, with more insight into its performance. According to their analysis, Pokemon GO has now pulled in over $4 billion worldwide ever since its original debut in 2016. Of that amount, the game earned around $1 billion within 2020 alone!

  • Pokémon GO has seen its best calendar year yet
  • The game has made $1 billion in the first 10 months of 2020 alone
    • This is 11% more than all of 2019’s earnings
    • This is also 30% more than the first 10 months of 2019’s earnings
    • In the first 10 months of 2020, Pokémon GO ranked as the No. 3 mobile game by global player spending
  • Pokémon GO has accumulated close to $4.2 billion in player spending globally to date
    • The United States ranked No. 1 with $1.5 billion in revenue, or 36.3% of total spending
    • Japan ranked No. 2 with $1.3 billion in revenue, or 31.3%
    • Germany ranked No. 3 with $238.6 million in revenue, or 5.7%
    • Google Play accounted for most of the title’s revenue, generating more than $2.2 billion (or 53.4 percent of total spending)
    • The App Store accounted for $1.9 billion, or 46.6%
  • Pokémon GO has generated nearly 600 million unique installs worldwide to date
    • The U.S. ranked No. 1 for downloads with 109 million installs, or 18.2% of the total
    • Brazil contributed 65.2 million installs, or close to 11% of the total
    • Mexico contributed 37.3 million installs, or 6.2% of the total
    • Google Play accounted for the majority of downloads, with close to 466 million installs (or 78% of total downloads)
    • The App Store accounts for approximately 132 million installs (or 22% of total downloads)
