Pokemon GO Player Fined for Violating Lockdown Rules

A Pokemon GO player has been charged for leaving his home and traveling 14 miles during the latest lockdown in England.

It’s been just over two weeks into the latest England lockdown and it looks like one Pokemon GO trainer has given into temptation to leave their home to catch some Pokemon.

The BBC reports just how far this player traveled as the country behind the inspiration for the Galar region enters its strictest lockdown period since last March.

He admitted to Warwickshire Police he had driven from his home in Bedworth to look for Pokemon in Kenilworth.

He was fined £200 for “contravening the requirement to not leave or be outside the place they live without a reasonable excuse”.

“Everyone has a part to play in ensuring they slow the spread of the virus,” a police spokeswoman said.

“We would like to remind people they must not leave or be outside their home unless they have a reasonable excuse.”

Playing the game was not deemed a reasonable excuse for traveling unfortunately. A similar situation was reported last year in Spain when a player broke quarantine to catch Pokemon in public.
