Pokemon Sword & Shield Dual Pack Will Come With Larvitar And Jangmo-o Dynamax Crystal Codes

Pokemon Sword & Shield Dual Pack Will Come With Larvitar And Jangmo-o Dynamax Crystal Codes

Earlier today, the Pokemon Company posted a new trailer for Pokemon Sword & Shield, as well as announced some special bonuses to be included in its Dual Pack .

As detailed on Pokemon Sword & Shield‘s official website, the dual pack will include a pair of codes for special Dynamax Crystals in-game. When used, the codes trigger a Dynamax Raid battle with Pokemon that cannot be normally encountered until late in the game. One code activates Dynamax Larvitar, while the other activates Dynamax Jangmo-o, confirming both Pokemon for the Galar Regional Dex.

While the codes can be redeemed for either version, it should be noted that in the base games Jangmo-o is exclusive to Pokemon Sword, while Larvitar is exclusive to Pokemon Shield.  While not quite relevant for those who bought the Dual Pack, this is useful information for players still deciding which version to get for themselves.

Aside from these promo codes, players who buy the game digitally from eshop before Jan 15 2020 will receive a code which allows them to redeem 12 Quick Balls in-game.

Pokemon Sword & Shield are scheduled to launch on 15 November for Nintendo Switch.

UPDATE: The Pokemon Company has released the following details about the Dual Pack bonus in a PR Email. Notably, the email specifically mentions the SteelBook Edition of the game, while the official website seems to imply that even a non-steelbook edition will come with the codes. We will update this post with further details should it be confirmed one way or the other.

Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield Dual Pack SteelBook® Edition
As a special bonus for purchasing the Dual Pack SteelBook® Edition, Trainers will receive two codes (one per game) that will reward them with special items known as Dynamax Crystals. By using the Dynamax Crystals in the Wild Area, Trainers will be able to face Dynamax Larvitar and Dynamax Jangmo-o, Pokémon that are normally encountered later in the game, in special Max Raid Battles. Larvitar won’t appear in Pokémon Sword and Jangmo-o won’t appear in Pokémon Shield during normal gameplay, but players will be able to catch them in either version by using these Dynamax Crystals
