President Of Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Asia Atsushi Morita Retires From Company

Sony has announced that Atsushi Morita, corporate director of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) and president of its Japan Asia arm, will be retiring from the company due to old age.

The news comes shortly after SIE announced that its Worldwide Studios Chairman Shawn Layden would be leaving Sony, making Morita the second of Sony’s leaders to step down from their position this week. Although the deputy president Kazuhiko Takeda has assumed the role of SIE’s coporate director, no successor has been named for the position of SIE Japan Asia President at this time.

Much like with the retirement of Nintendo’s own Tatsumi Kimishima last year, Morita’s retirement as President of SIE potentially marks the start of a new era for Sony Entertainment, although only time will tell what effect this will have on the company. For now, we wish Atsushi Morita all the best with his retirement as his term as SIE Japan’s president comes to a close.
