Earlier this weekend, we reported on how art of Bowser transforming into ‘Princess Bowser’ (or ‘Bowsette’) was starting to become an internet trend.
Now, it seems like Japanese Twitter users have gone head-over-heels for the female version of the koopa king. The hashtag #クッパ姫 (‘koopa-hime’ or ‘Princess Koopa’) just became trending on Twitter today. Talented artists and even manga illustrators are now drawing art of the fan-made character.
The trend went viral so quickly that even the artist that popularised ‘Bowsette’ / ‘Princess Bowser’ (@ayyk92) has joked about it:
At this point, there’s no way Nintendo of Japan hasn’t noticed what fans are doing with Mario’s fearsome nemesis. We can only wonder what kind of reaction the company is having to this amazing internet movement.
