Random: Fan Video Reimagines Pokemon Sword/Shield In Game Boy Style

The Pokemon mainline games have changed quite a bit since the series first launched in 1996, and many fans often find themselves nostalgic for the simpler days of black and white sprites with crisp chiptune music.

One such fan was Japanese YouTube user ハヤテ京雲寺, who decided to reimagine the latest games Pokemon Sword And Shield in the style of the original games. According to ハヤテ京雲寺, the project came about after they were struck with a desire to hear Pokemon Sword And Shield’s music in Game Boy Style.

I was listening to the BGM of the town of Sword & Shield
I wanted to listen to Game Boy style!
I couldn’t find it when I looked for it, so I made it myself!

Evidently, one thing led to another and led to the creation of this impressive 19 minute long video that not only includes Game Boy renditions of the music, but de-made sprites and visuals for many of Pokemon Sword And Shield’s locations. You can check it out for yourself below:
