Random: The Man Who Wrote Animal Crossing New Horizons’ Sea Bass Joke Is Also Tired Of Hearing It
Tired of catching sea bass in Animal Crossing: New Horizons and hearing the same ‘C+’ joke over and over again? Well, as it turns out, so is the guy who wrote that into the game!
Rob Heiret, one of the game’s English localization staff, recently took to Twitter to talk about the game’s success and his work on it. In particular, he mentions that he’s also heard enough of the line ‘I caught a sea bass! No wait – it’s at least a C+!‘ that he wrote himself – while also revealing that there was originally a different joke planned for the sea bass during development:
And when we were workshopping the fish jokes, someone pointed out that, as a joke people were going to see many, many times, generally along with disappointment they didn't catch something better, maybe it would be better to spin it positive. Make it a C+ instead.

Anyway, my point is, we were doing our very best, down to details you might not have considered, to make this the most positive, comforting, funny game we could. And I know the dev team was doing the same.
