References To Nintendo Switch Reportedly Spotted In Resident Evil 3 Remake Datamine
It looks like the realm of Nintendo Switch port speculation could become a little restless, once again.
As many folks will know, Resident Evil 3 Remake is currently on its way to launching on PS4, Xbox One, and PC – with few expecting the game to ever arrive on Nintendo’s relatively under-powered Switch console. Several Resident Evil modders, however, seems to have discovered something that suggests otherwise!
In particular, a datamine of the game’s recent demo appears to contain references to the Nintendo Switch and eShop in its code. These were reportedly discovered in two in-game prompts about autosaves and digital storefronts respectively, as you’ll see below:
There are two likely possibilities for this code being present.
The first is that it’s simply leftover data from a general porting job to multiple systems. We’ve witnessed this before for franchises such as Call of Duty – despite no news of any ports months later.
But there’s also the second possibility of Capcom preparing a Cloud version of the game for Nintendo Switch. After all, the company has done this before by releasing Resident Evil 7: Cloud Version in Japan – so a streamable edition of the game to Switch isn’t unprecedented either.
Of course, we would like to urge our readers to take this information and speculation with a grain of skepticism. We’ll just have to wait and see if we ever find out what’s up with these strange lines of code in the future.
