Reggie: Cloud Games For Switch Not Really Feasible In The West

Earlier this year, games that stream from the cloud, such as Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Resident Evil 7, were released for Nintendo Switch in Japan.

When Reggie Fils-Aime, the President of Nintendo of America, was asked about cloud gaming, he described the cloud gaming stuff that’s going on in Japan “very exciting”.

While he notes everyone’s excitement about cloud gaming for Nintendo Switch, Reggie pointed out high speed Internet infrastructure required to support cloud gaming does not exist in the United States, and the game streaming services that exist in the States aren’t to Nintendo’s standards as they don’t offer a “truly compelling experience”.

Still, Nintendo is paying close attention to the development of cloud gaming, and once the proper infrastructure is built, we’ll see more games that stream from the cloud on future Nintendo platforms.
