Retro Handheld Hybrid Evercade Now Up For Pre-order, Receives New Preview Trailer

The developers behind the Evercade have now opened pre-orders for their retro handheld hybrid console.

To recap, the Evercade is an independently developed handheld hybrid console that connects to your TV, similar to the Nintendo Switch. Marketed as a retro-gaming machine, it boasts a massive catalog of over 100 retro titles from giants such as Atari, Namco, and even Indie developers.

The console can be pre-ordered through Funstock, and will be carried at retailers listed here. The Evercade team has also published a new trailer for the console which you can watch below:

Pre-orders for the Evercade, a brand new handheld console are now live.

The ‘Evercade’, a brand new handheld is taking on the likes of Nintendo and SEGA’s ‘Mini’ consoles with an expanding library of cartridges that already includes the likes of Namco Museum (Pac-Man, Dig-Dug and Galaxian), Atari (Asteroids, Centipede and Pong), Interplay (Earthworm Jim and Clayfighter) and more – with over 100 games confirmed for the system already! Cartridges offer between 6 and 20 games and come in classic numbered plastic cases, for those who love to display their game collections.

Product Development Director – Andrew Byatt quoted:
“We have seen the flood of ‘mini’ consoles into the market and whilst we love these products, they have a short shelf life. They’re great fun and offer excellent content, but they are not expandable. Our cartridge based system enables you to purchase one piece of hardware and then add new content for a low additional cost. It’s a great value, future proof investment”.

The console features a 4.3″ screen (the same size as the original PSP) and has been developed to deliver an authentic gameplay experience. You can also save your game at any point and load instantly – making those difficult retro games that bit more accessible. The Evercade offers HDMI connectivity – with HD up-scaling on all games. This allows retro enthusiasts to play both on the move and in their homes. The best of both worlds.

Not limiting themselves to the games of the past, Evercade are also making indie games available on their new platform. They have already signed Mega Cat Studios (known for titles such as Log Jammers, Coffee Crisis and Almost Hero), with more to be announced after launch.

They have promised more retro cartridges to add to the 9 available at launch.

The Evercade console is set to launch on March 20 2020.
