Rocket League Runs 720p When Docked, Dynamic Resolution When Undocked

Rocket League is out today on Nintendo Switch, and Psyonix has started answering some questions regarding the Switch version of Rocket League from fans on Reddit.

One question asked was the resolution Rocket League is displayed in when docked and undocked. According to Psyonix, the game runs 720p in docked mode and uses a “Dynamic Resolution Slider” when undocked, which generally hovers around “576p”.

Check out Psyonix’s full comments on the matter below.

Rocket League runs at 1280×720 in Docked and uses a dynamic resolution scaler in Undocked (handheld) depending on the stadium being played. Generally speaking it hovers around 1024×576. Post launch we plan to continue working on optimizing the game.

  1. I feel like even when playing this game docked, it still has the dynamic resolution. The goal replays have no dynamic shadows while when you’re playing there are dynamic shadows.

I feel like they should enable the video options so we can choose how we want to see and play the game because with the video options that come as default (and are impossible to change) the game still suffers from low fps.

I would like to be able to play with low a low preset and have a more decent resolution like 1080p, I believe they are quite capable of doing it.

    Lets hope.
