On July 1, 2018, an anonymous poster posted on 4chan what he claimed are new fighters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

The leaker claimed he was working at CEO 2018, a competitive tournament, and managed to secure a demo build of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

They claimed that the demo build mentioned several new playable fighters – Gardevoir, Gothitelle (an Echo Fighter of Gardevoir), and Mario 2. Mario 2 was listed as a separate character, and the leaker guessed it could either be Paper Mario or Mario 64 Mario.

What makes things interesting, however, are the other parts of the rumor. A month before the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct, the leaker correctly predicted Simon Belmont, Richter Belmont, King K. Rool, and Dark Samus’ inclusion in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. This means the rumor holds some weight.

The Simon Belmont leaker had the Castlevania IP right, but not the character. “Rihita”, Richter Belmont’s Japanese name, was among those listed.
>”Sirnight”, Gardevoir’s Japanese name, was among them. Interestingly, Lucina, Dark Pit, and Daisy are all listed with their echo counterparts – “Gothiruselle” (Gothitelle) was underneath her. I presume, then, that Gothitelle is going to be an echo of Gardevoir.
>”Mario2″ was listed as a separate character. I have no idea what this means, but if I had to guess, either Paper Mario or Mario 64 Mario.
>”Kruru” (King K Rool) and “DakuS” (Dark Samus? It was underneath regular Samus) were both listed, unsurprisingly.
