[UPDATE] Rumor: Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 Writer Teases Fantastic Four As First DLC For The Game’s Expansion Pass

Earlier this month at E3, Nintendo revealed that Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order would be receiving a DLC Expansion Pass promising even more superhero content on top of its already massive lineup of characters.

Among the heroes slated to join Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 via the Expansion Pass are the Fantastic Four. Although they had been part of the base roster in both previous Marvel Ultimate Alliance games, their return for the third entry was largely uncertain due to their dramatic fall in relevance in recent years. Needless to say, Fantastic Four fans breathed a sigh of relief when the team was confirmed to be returning in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, even though they would be DLC and not part of the base roster.

However, these fans might not have to wait that long to for them to arrive in the game. In a Tweet made after the Expansion Pass’ announcement, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3‘s writer Marc Sumerak seemingly teased that the Fantastic Four might actually be the first of the game’s DLC to arrive when the Expansion Pack launches in Fall.

“Can’t wait for you — and everyone — to get to play it [Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3] July 19. And expect even more fantastic fun starting this Fall!”

This seems like quite a specific choice of words for Sumerak to use, although its hardly a surefire confirmation. It is likely that the developer’s plans for the expansion pass will only be made clear closer to the game’s release, and we will bring more news on them as they come.

In the meantime, you can check out the Tweet below, and judge for yourself if its an actual hint or just some coincidental wordplay.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order launches on July 19 exclusively for Nintendo Switch.

UPDATE: Mark Sumerak has since given an official comment on the situation, confirming that he was not in fact teasing anything, and it was just a reference to the Expansion Pass as a whole. You can read his response below:
