Earlier today, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was updated to Version 2.3.0, adding support for the latest wave of DLC, which includes Birdo as a new character.
As highlighted by pad_warrior on Twitter, this new character also comes along with an updated character select screen. This new screen not only has an icon for Birdo, but also five additional “?” icons to fill in the blanks. This decision has led to speculation that more new characters could be coming as DLC.
At the time of this writing, Nintendo has yet to officially announce any new racers coming to the game aside from Birdo, so we caution readers to take this speculation with a grain of salt. We’ll be sure to report back with more details as they come.
