An unfortunate new rumor has surfaced about the future of Mortal Kombat 1.

This news comes via a “verified insider” going by Fate Unknown on the Mortalkombatleaks subreddit. The leaker claimed that the studio Netherrealm had cancelled its planned second story expansion along with a third Kombat Pack DLC. It is also claimed that this was due to low sales for the Khaos Reigns expansion, which was criticized by fans for being too expensive and not offering enough content.

At the time of this writing, Netherrealm has yet to confirm that they will be ending support for the game, which creator Ed Boon claimed could have “years of content” a few months back. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
