Ahead of the Pokemon Direct later today, an official Pokemon Twitter account may have accidentally revealed that a “new” Pokemon form would be making its way to Pokemon Sword and Shield soon.

The “new” Pokemon form is West Sea Gastrodon (AKA Pink Gastrodon), which is currently not obtainable in Pokemon Sword And Shield. In a now deleted Tweet from the Play Pokemon Twitter account, a West Sea Gastrodon can be seen participating in a double battle in Pokemon Sword and Shield:

This image is of course rather strange given that only the East Sea Gastrodon (AKA Blue Gastrodon) is available for players to catch in Pokemon Sword And Shield. Currently, there is no way to obtain an West Sea Gastrodon in the games through normal means.

Many fans believe that Play Pokemon may have intended the post to come out after today’s Pokemon Direct, perhaps after more details about Pokemon Home were revealed. Presumably, West Sea Gastrodon would be transferable from previous Pokemon titles into Pokemon Sword And Shield through the Pokemon Home service.
