Rumor: Upcoming Nintendo Direct Will Be “Mainly Focused On Third-Party Games”

For the past few weeks, rumors have been swirling about an upcoming Nintendo Direct later this week, specifically some time around June 29th 2022.

Now, some new rumors have surfaced which could hint towards what we could expect to see in this showcase. During a Twitch stream last Friday, journalist Nacho Requena, the editor of Spanish games magazine Manual, claimed that the Direct would be coming on Tuesday, and that he was told to expect it to be “mainly focused on Third-Party Games”. A translation of his comments can be found below via VGC:

“We should have a Nintendo Direct this coming Tuesday, this will be mainly focused on third-party games – that’s what I’ve been told to expect.

Requena went on to elaborate on some of the possible third-party titles that could appear at the showcase, including a Persona game, as well as a “four-year old” port of an existing title, which VGC speculates could be Red Dead Redemption 2:

“I’ve also been told that some Persona game will be present, though I don’t know which game, I’ve also been told there will be another game that has been available for some time on other platforms… it’s been available for four years now.”

At first glance, these rumors could suggest that this direct will be the return of the “Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase”, a type of direct first introduced in 2020 which focused exclusively on Third-Party games. That said, until an official announcement from Nintendo, this remains mostly hearsay. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
