SEGA Confirms Cartridge Size Is Why Team Sonic Racing Lacks Intro Movie On Switch, Has No Plans To Patch It In

Previously, we reported that Team Sonic Racing on Switch was missing its opening movie. With many fans feeling incensed, it looks like SEGA was finally forced to give some clarification on the issue.

The company recently shared a new statement with USGamer, confirming that they did indeed cut out the game’s opening movie on purpose. As some might suspect, this was because the Switch cartridges SEGA used were too small:

“The intro cutscene was removed from Switch build of Team Sonic Racing due to the cartridge size restrictions. At this time, there are no plans to add the cutscene back in via patch.”

Sadly, this seems to be another case of publishers simply trying to save costs on publishing games for Switch. Let’s hope more publishers and creators don’t follow in SEGA’s footsteps.
