Sega Yakuza Producer Says He Would Create “A Completely Different” Sonic Game If Given The Chance

As part of their 60th Anniversary celebrations, SEGA has been publishing a series of interviews with various big names within their company.

One of these big names is Daisuke Sato, the producer for the Yakuza series. During his interview, Sato was asked about which SEGA property he would be interested in working on, out of the ones he has never handled before. Perhaps unsurprisingly, he voiced interested in tackling Sonic The Hedgehog, although it would be a “completely different Sonic” if he was given the chance.

“It’s an IP that I haven’t come to before. In the sense that I want to try it, … well, Sonic. After all, when you hear Sega you think Sonic. I’d like to get involved once at least. But for me, the so-called Sonic is, well, if I were to do it, I wouldn’t do Sonic as it was. I would like to make a completely different Sonic.”
