If you own a New Nintendo 2DS XL, New Nintendo 3DS XL, or New Nintendo 3DS, you can scan them on the system’s built-in NFC reader without any issues. However, if you own an older system such as a Nintendo 2DS or Nintendo 3DS XL, this may pose as a problem, as Nintendo’s amiibo NFC Reader/Writer isn’t compatible with the Trejarers toys.

Instead, you’ll need to purchase Level-5’s NFC Reader/Writer. There aren’t any other workarounds to the issue, sadly.
