If you thought scalpers were bad, wait till you see the price of a SNES Classic Edition in Brazil.
In Brazil, the SNES Classic Edition is estimated to cost R$999, which is around USD320. That’s exactly four times the price of a SNES Classic Edition in the United States.
The reason behind why the SNES Classic Edition is so expensive is because of Brazil’s insanely high import fees. Tariffs of up to 80% are charged on non-essential goods which are imported into Brazil.
This also affects the Nintendo Switch and other Nintendo video games, which cost double or triple of what the average customer pays in another country.
