In the interview Takashi Iizuka mentions that he would be interested in remaking Sonic Adventure some day as he can see the flaws in the original game which was very ambitious at the time of release.

Check it out below:

“It was the first highspeed 3D action game that also featured a scenario highlighted with six different stories, the A-life Chao, six unique styles of gameplay – it is a unique game offering even 20 years after its release. At the time, it also wasn’t just a solitary software release, it was the title to bring people to the Dreamcast and we were given the budget to make something to showcase the hardware,” says the director, clearly proud of the team’s accomplishments. “However, it was the very first 3D game that we worked on and looking at it now I can see the rough edges it has, which really makes me want to remake it again,” he adds with a laugh. That comment is sure to bait the fans – and can you imagine Sonic Adventure’s ambition realized with today’s tech?”

It is possible that remakes of Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 could happen with SEGA usually following trends in the market nowadays with Crash Bandicoot and Spyro getting successful remasters of their early 3D games.

However, modern Sonic Team may not be able to emulate the classics faithfully however it is still likely a remaster will happen one day.
