Last week, the Super Mario Bros. animated movie premiered in theatres, smashing records to become the highest grossing animated film opening of all time.
Among the film’s many highlights is a heartfelt love ballad sung by Bowser (Jack Black), aptly titled “Peaches”. The song has proved to be quite the hot topic online due to its high quality, which is somewhat surprising given the film’s primary demographic.
Not only has the song been as well-received as the movie, but it could also net the film an Oscar nomination. According to Variety, Universal has told them the song will be “eligible to submit” for Best Original Song at the Oscars, although its not clear whether its actually going to get nominated for real.
