During the Nintendo Direct, Masahiro Sakurai announced Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as the official name for the new Smash Bros. Switch title.

All fighters in previous Super Smash Bros. titles, including Snake, will be making a return to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

In Japan, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is called Super Smash Bros. Special.
