Survey Shows 60% Of Teenagers Prefer Buying Games Digitally Than Physically

Piper Jaffray recently conducted a survey with 8000 American teenagers born between 1997 and 2012 to find out their video game spending habits.

According to the report, male teenagers surveyed spend an average USD2600 a year on video games, about 14% of their entire budget. On the other hand, female teens spent only 1% of their entire budget on video games annually.

The report also mentioned how teenagers prefer purchasing their games digitally rather than physically. 60% of those surveyed in 2019 now prefer to buy their games digitally, as compared to 55% in 2018 and 45% in 2017.

If the trend continues, this could mean bad news for retailers such as GameStop, but great news for publishers and developers who see bigger profits from selling their games digitally.
