We now have some official confirmation that the Switch 2 is the new fastest selling console in history for the US.

These figures come via Circana game industry analyst Mat Piscatella, discussing the June 2025 sales data for the US videogame market on social media. The Switch 2 reportedly sold 1.6 million units in June, surpassing the Playstation 4, which was the previous top launch sales record holder at 1.1 million units.

Hardware – Nintendo Switch 2 sold 1.6M units in June, the highest launch month unit sales for video game hardware in US history. The previous high was the 1.1M units of PlayStation 4 sold during November 2013.

Alongside the Switch 2’s launch, launch title Mario Kart World managed to make it into the Top 3 highest selling videogames of the month, coming behind Elden Ring: Nightreign and Death Stranding 2.
