Takaya Imamura, Designer Of Tingle, Has Retired From Nintendo

Takaya Imamura, director and producer on many of Nintendo’s most iconic titles, has retired from the company.

Among the most notable games Imamura worked on include F-Zero, Starfox, and Majora’s Mask, where he is credited for designing beloved characters like Captain Falcon, Star Fox, and of course, Tingle. The latter would go on to become on of the Zelda franchise’s breakout characters, appearing in many subsequent games and spin-offs since.

In a post on Facebook, Imamura posted a selfie of himself outside Nintendo’s office on his last day at work before retiring from the company, along with the following caption:

This is my last day going to work. I took a selfie with the empty office. I guess I won’t be coming in here anymore. As you’d expect, I’ll miss it

It is worth noting that “empty office” is likely a reference to how the company currently has many employees working from home due to the ongoing pandemic.

We at Nintendosoup wish Takaya Imamura all the best in his retirement and future endeavors.
