Telltale Games Is Getting Revived, Thanks To LCG Entertainment

Nearly a year ago, we reported on the tragic closure of Telltale Games – the developers behind various interactive story games. Like a persistent zombie, however, it looks like the company will soon return to the land of the living!

The studio will return to business, after LCG Entertainment purchased its assets. According to a Polygon report, LCG will sell some of Telltale Games’ back catalog while starting work on new games based on Telltale’s existing licenses and new ones.

Jamie Ottilie and Brian Waddle will be leading the new studio. In particular, Ottilie commented that they would be offering ex-Telltale staff freelance roles, with full-time positions possible in the future. Additionally, the company intends to pick up previous games where Telltale left off – such as The Wolf Among Us and Batman. The only series they won’t be handling anymore is The Walking Dead – as Skybound Games have taken over the license.

Regardless of its past failings, Ottilie ultimately felt that Telltale deserved a second chance to shine:

“This is a viable business that went away due to market conditions and some scale choices [Telltale’s previous management] made…I like games that tell stories and I think our industry should have a company that specializes in narrative-driven games.”

From the looks of things, the studio is in fine hands for now. Hopefully, this means more of Telltale’s amazing catalog of story-based games will eventually reach Nintendo Switch fans in the future!
