Tetsuya Nomura: There Are Currently No Specific Plans For More Kingdom Hearts Games On Switch

Earlier this year, Square Enix revealed the rhythm games Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory for Nintendo Switch – sparking off hopes that Nintendo fans would one day see more of the Kingdom Hearts series on the hybrid system. Sadly, this may not be happening at all, according to the series’ producer.

During an interview with Nintendo Enthusiast, Tetsuya Nomura shared that there are currently no specific plans to bring more Kingdom Hearts titles to Switch. Apparently, Square Enix had considered ports of existing games in the series to Switch – but found it technologically difficult to do so.

Nevertheless, Nomura said that he found the Switch to be an appealing piece of hardware – one that he wished to do more with. According to the interview, he added that there was a possibility that other Square Enix games he’s involved in could come to the hybrid system.

For now, it looks like we can only hope that Nomura and Square Enix change their minds about the Kingdom Hearts series on Switch in the future.

Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory will be launching for Switch on November 11 in Japan and November 13 worldwide. We’ll report back as we hear more.
