TGS 2020 Online Received 31.6 million Views; TGS 2021 Set For September 30 – October 3 Next Year

As many readers will know, this year’s Tokyo Game Show 2020 took place digitally in light of the global coronavirus scare. With the event all wrapped up now, here’s a look back at how many attended the show virtually – and what the show’s plans next year will be like!

According to the Computer Entertainment Suppliers Association, TGS 2020 Online saw a whopping 31.6 million views during its run from from September 23 – 27 this year. During the show, developers revealed new details for titles such as Hyrule Warriors: Age of CalamityGal*Gun Returns and more.

Here’s a in-depth breakdown of online platforms that fans viewed the event from:

  • Total Views: 31,606,942

  • YouTube: 4,050,963 (English and Chinese included)
  • Twitter: 7,511,301 (English and Chinese included)
  • Niconico: 1,726,014
  • Twitch: 875,350 (English included)
  • TikTok LIVE: 98,012
  • Douyu (China): 1,069,377
  • Bilibili (China): 2,315,761

Moving forward, the Computer Entertainment Suppliers Association expects the event to go back to a physical format in 2021. It subsequently announced that Tokyo Game Show 2021 would return to its usual venue at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan – and take place from September 30 – October 3, 2021.
