The Pokemon Company Registers Several Pokemon Sword & Shield Related Trademarks In Japan

Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures Inc., the three owners of The Pokemon Company, have registered several trademarks related to Pokemon Sword & Shield in Japan.

First are trademarks for both the names Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. These trademarks are specifically for clothing purposes, including “T-shirts, polo shirts, sweatshirts, smocks, skirts, pyjamas, underwear, swimwear, socks, scarfs, gloves, mittens, hats, visors, belts, shoes, slippers, clothes for role playing games, clothes for Halloween, and more”.

Next are trademarks for the Japanese names of two newly introduced Pokemon for the games. These are ワンパチ/Wanpachi (Yamper) and マホイップ (Alcremie). Both trademarks cover “video games, clothing, stationery, bags, entertainment services” and so on.

Pokemon Sword & Shield are scheduled to launch on 15 November for Nintendo Switch.
