The Rectangle In The Super Mario Coins Are Very Likely The Letter “I”

Supper Mario Broth has made an interesting discovery about the coins that appear in the Super Mario games.

The blog claims that the coins that appear in the Super Mario games have a sans-serif capital letter “I”. The reason is because in Super Mario Advance, the coins have a regular serifed “I”, which you can see at the very far right of the picture below:

It is unclear what the “I” in these coins mean, so we’ll probably have to hope Nintendo sheds some light on that in the future.
