There Are Now More Than 26 Million Nintendo Switch Online Members

Since its implementation, many Nintendo fans have been somewhat skeptical of the Nintendo Switch Online subscription service – which offers scant basics such as online multiplayer and access to a retro library of NES and SNES games. Despite some widespread criticism however, it looks like Nintendo is still attracting a good chunk of adopters!

Recently, Nintendo shared an English version of its Corporate Management Policy Briefing – which outlines its current business performance in 2020. As you can see above, it reveals that there are currently more than 26 million Nintendo Switch users with the console’s online service.

As noted by Nintendo below, the online service saw spikes in subscriptions alongside Switch games that encouraged online play – such as Super Smash Bros. UltimatePokemon Sword/Shield, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Overall, it looks like Nintendo is happy with the adoption rate of the service so far – and will be pushing more folks toward it. We’ll report back as we hear more in the future!
