DKC Tropical Freeze Removed From Wii U eShop

Nintendo has removed the Wii U version of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze from the North American eShop.

The reason for this is unknown, since there’s been no official announcement on the matter. However, the upcoming release of the game for Switch has many speculating that the removal was due to the lower cost of the game on Nintendo’s less popular console. The Wii U title originally launched at a $49.99 USD price point, and it was later lowered to $19.99 as part of the Nintendo Selects program. However, the game is launching this Friday for Switch at $59.99. By removing the title from the Wii U eShop, Nintendo has made more difficult for Wii U owners to get the game for cheap.

It’s very strange and disappointing that Nintendo would remove such a major title from the Wii U’s eShop. What do you think of this bizarre move? Let us know in the comments.
