UK Schools Approaching Nintendo To Utilise Nintendo Labo In Education

The Nintendo Labo is a great platform to spark creativity and interest in engineering, especially amongst young children. This “create your own toys” approach has led to some educators taking interest in the Nintendo Labo, particularly schools in the United Kingdom.

According to a report by Games Industry, several schools in the United Kingdom have approached Nintendo to get the Labo kits into the classroom. This comes as the Nintendo Labo is slated for release in the United Kingdom and Europe next week.

Nintendo UK says it has been approached by several schools about getting Labo in front of their pupils. Yet this isn’t billed as an education product. Not yet. For that to happen, Nintendo will need to look at discounts for educational institutions, and have teacher support and training set-up. It is not a case of just sticking Labo and Switch into schools. There’s an entire business and department built around the education edition of Minecraft. Nintendo would likely have to consider a similar approach.

It is possible that Nintendo can contribute to the United Kingdom education market in a fruitful way, sparking interest in creation and engineering in children whose ancestors started the first industrial revolution.
