Uncovering The Origins Of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 For The Switch

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 was announced for the Nintendo Switch during the Game Awards last week and Nintendo’s own COO Reggie Fils-Aime talked with IGN about the game.

Koei Tecmo, the developer of Ultimate Alliance, has also worked with Nintendo on Hyrule Warriors and Fire Emblem Warriors.

Fils-Aime confirmed that these previous collaborations supported the production of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3.

“What happens in the world of development is you have companies who have positive experiences in working together, coupled with franchises being available, and the franchise owner wanting to do something with a particular franchise,” Fils-Aime told IGN. “And in this case, those three elements came together in order to create the opportunity for that game.”

Koei Tecmo has only developed this game in the Ultimate Alliance franchise with the other two having been developed by Activision. With the 3rd installation coming to Switch, IGN asked about the possibility of the first two games in the series becoming ported.

“I really can’t comment on that. That’s not been an area of focus for us,” he said. “What we want to do is we want to make this game a great experience, and certainly with all of the excitement around the overall Marvel universe, we think it’s going to be a great opportunity.”

The game is set to come out sometime in 2019. Here is the trailer that premiered at the Game Awards.
