US: Super Mario Party Was Last Month’s Bestselling Switch Game

NPD Group has published video game sales data for the United States for September 2018 (tracking ended October 5, 2018).

Here are some key takeaways from NPD’s report. Super Mario Party, which launched on October 5, was the 9th bestselling video game in dollar sales for September 2018.

This is despite the fact that it only had one day on the September 2018 charts, so if the cut-off was later it would have probably done better.

Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, released last year, were the bestselling Nintendo 3DS titles for September 2018.

Hardware sales for the entire US market was worth USD306 million (3% less than September 2017), while software sales topped USD747 million (about the same as September 2017). USD323 million worth of accessories were sold in September alone.

Overall, the video game industry recorded growth thanks to the NES Classic Edition, SNES Classic Edition, PS4, and Xbox One.
