Used Nintendo Switch Consoles Are Going For 130 Dollars More Than The Suggested Retail Price In Japan

In the last few months, the price of a brand new Nintendo Switch skyrocketed in many parts of the world, all thanks to higher demand due to the coronavirus quarantines and increased interest in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Japanese media Livedoor has published a report reflecting the current situation in Japan. As of May 10, 2020, nothing has improved and the Nintendo Switch remains hard to get. Online retailers which host lotteries to determine who wins a chance to buy one have experienced technical difficulties due to overwhelming traffic.

Demand has shot through the roof that a used Nintendo Switch system is going for about 46,651 yen (USD437) on online auction sites, about USD130 higher than the USD299.99 suggested retail price of a brand new system.
