Warframe Receives Cross Platform Play Update On Switch

Digital Extremes has launched the long awaited cross platform play update for Warframe on Switch.

As the title implies, the update allows for cross platform play between Warframe players on Switch, PC, Playstation, and Xbox. Should players wish to opt in, they can do so from the Options menu. The developers have also detailed plans to continue building upon cross platform play features for Warframe, including an eventual cross-save feature that will allow players to transfer their progress from one version of the game to another.

“Cross Platform Play is a feature meant to unite the Origin System once and for all! We’re bringing together Tenno from across the globe and across Platforms to play together. As our development on Cross Platform Play has continued, we’re opening it up to let more players experience Warframe Missions together.”

“Cross Platform Save refers to an optional service by which players can take some of your progress from one platform to another. Cross Platform Save is not currently available, but we will keep the Community updated on when they can take part in Cross Platform Save as Cross Platform Play development continues.”

“Warframe’s Cross Platform Play feature can be turned on and off in the game Options Menu. When the feature is enabled, a players’ platform icon will be displayed next to their name. They can Chat, join Squads, and can expect expedited Public Matchmaking as other players across all platforms in the Origin System join in for the Missions ahead. Players across all platforms can also meet in Relays and Dojos, however, VoIP chat features will be added in the future and are currently unavailable.”
