Warning: Third Party Docks Are Bricking Nintendo Switch Consoles

If you’re currently using a third party Nintendo Switch dock of any brand, you may want to stop using immediately.

Prominent Youtuber Spawn Wave, who has been using a third party Nyko dock for ages, revealed that after updating his Nintendo Switch to Version 5.0.0., the console bricked while it was connected to the Nyko dock.

Spawn Wave wasn’t the only person who experienced this, as he pointed out other people are also reporting similar issues online. Although there’s no clear sign how connected both updating the system to 5.0.0 and using third party docks are to the bricking issue, Nyko reached out to the Youtuber and offered to replace his Nintendo Switch for free. The gesture was turned down in hopes of a breakthrough.

This isn’t the first time the Version 5.0.0 firmware update has caused problems for users. A few days earlier, users reported their third party controllers stopped working with Nintendo Switch.
