2020 Is The First Time Where No Pikachu Outbreak Event Is Held In Japan
In the last few years, The Pokemon Company and Yokohama city had held, without fail, Pikachu Outbreak events featuring thousands of Pikachu mascots every August to great success.
Due to the coronavirus outbreak, there is no Pikachu Outbreak event being held in Yokohama this year. Japanese Pokemon fans are trying to commemorate this period of the year with the Twitter hashtag “#みんなのピカチュウ大量発生チュウ” (Everyone’s Pikachu Outbreak). Alongside the hashtag, they are posting various photos and videos taken from past events:

Hopefully things will improve for the better in 2021 and we’ll all be able to attend Pikachu Outbreak again!
