Random: Sirfetch’d’s Sword And Shield Are A Single Leek Cut Into Two Pieces
Following Sirfetch’d’s official reveal earlier this month and the numerous memes it spawned, we have an interesting detail to share about the gallant Wild Duck Pokemon’s character design.
While its quite obvious that Sirfetch’d sword is a sharpened leek, some of you may have wondered what its “shield” is supposed to be. Although it may look like a generic “grass” shield at first glance, its design is actually meant to evoke the “leafy” end of the leek when its fully grown and hasn’t been chopped off. In fact, both the sword and shield were part of the same leek, and you can even see the diagonal cut that separated the two.
To illustrate, you can check out this comparison post published shared by TAHK0 on Twitter:
I just realized the sword and shield sirfetch’d is holding used to be the same single leek that was then cut in to two pieces (top = shield, bottom = sword) pic.twitter.com/FuBVbyU4Nt
