Sakurai Shares His Thoughts On Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Becoming The Bestselling Fighting Game
Famitsu has shared a new interview with Masahiro Sakurai, the creator of the Super Smash Bros. series.
First, Sakurai was asked to reflect on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate becoming the bestselling fighting game of all time. Though Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has already beaten Street Fighter II, Sakurai feels Street Fighter II will always be the king of fighting games. He also ponders whether Street Fighter II Turbo and Super Street Fighter II should be considered as Street Fighter II when it comes to sales.
Next, Sakurai talked about Terry Bogard, the latest DLC fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Sakurai mentioned that Terry plays like a fighter from a classic wrestling game, and thinks his inclusion in Smash will help make it a more fun and exciting eSports game.
Sakurai also briefly discussed about the difficulty of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, saying it’s a challenging game especially when played online. That said, he feels Smash could be enjoyed by people of all ages, calling it a game with many techniques that could be enjoyed by players once they got used to it.
Last but not least, Sakurai concluded his interview saying he’s very happy that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has become the bestselling fighting game of all time, and re-emphasized the hard work the development team had put in. He promised to continue to work hard on the game.
