Random: Create Your Own 3D AI Generated Pokemon With “Nokemon”

A few months back, we reported on an Artificial Intelligence (AI) program created by data scientist Max Woolf AKA Minmaxir that allowed fans to create their own randomly generated Pokemon based on official artwork.

Since then, mechanical-learning engineer Liam Eloie has created their own variation inspired by Woolf’s work. Unlike Woolf’s program, Eloie’s “Nokemon” app creates AI generated Pokemon using data from the games including images of the Pokemon 3D models, description of types, as well as categories such as “starter”, “legendary”, and “shiny”.

According to an official blog post, Eloie had been working on Nokemon for several years, and it took a lot of trial and error before the program finally produced somewhat coherent results. Eloie credits Woolf’s use of DALL-E as being one of the final inspirations that led to this latest version, along with the release of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl.

You can try the Nokemon generator out for yourself here.
