Pokemon Scarlet/Violet Receive A Famitsu Score Of 38/40, Metascore Drops To 73

Several weeks following the games’ launch, Famitsu has published their review scores for Pokemon Scarlet And Violet.

As reported via Ryokutya2089, the latest games in the Pokemon franchise have received a combined score of 38/40, translated from a 9/10/10/9 from Famitsu’s four reviewers. This is about comparable to the other Pokemon games released on Switch, which received the following scores:

  • Pokemon Let’s GO Pikachu/Eevee ~  9/9/9/10 [37/40]
  • Pokemon Sword/Shield ~ 10/9/10/9 [38/40]
  • Pokemon Legends Arceus ~ 10/9/9/10 [38/40]
  • Pokemon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl ~ 8/9/8/9 -[34/40]

This score does however present a bit of a contrast with the game’s global reception on Metacritic, where it is now the lowest rated mainline Pokemon game of all time with a Metascore of 73, on par with Pokemon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl. Not that this has done much to quell the game’s commercial reception, where it has broken sales records both in its home country of Japan, as well as globally.
