Pokemon Scarlet And Violet‘s Teal Mask DLC introduces a new Pokemon Ogerpon, whose role in the story and unique Terastalization ability have quickly made it a fan favorite.

Unfortunately, some malicious players are using Ogerpon’s uniqueness as a way to troll people online. According to Pokemon dataminer @Sibuna_Switch, these malicious players are using Ogerpons with modified Tera Types to softlock online battles.

Without going deep into spoiler territory, Ogerpon is only meant to have a limited number of available Tera Types due to it’s unique Terastallized states, Ogerpons that have been modified to have “impossible” Tera Types will cause battles to freeze when they Terastalize, essentially locking unsuspecting opponents into an unwinnable battle. The goal is to force the victim to disconnect out of frustration, as a means of griefing or gaining ranks for the malicious user.

Beware! Malicious players can softlock your online battles by Terastallizing an Ogerpon into an impossible Tera Type.

Their intent is to grief/gain rank by making you disconnect before them.

Hopefully, Game Freak will become aware of this issue and patch the game to stop these modified Ogerpons from being used online. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
