Pokemon Developer Game Freak Hacked, Multiple Future Titles And Past Game Source Codes Reportedly Leaked

Game Freak, the developers behind the mainline Pokemon games, have been hacked.

This massive hack includes a huge amount of data from the company, and includes the source code for Pokemon HeartGold/Soulsilver and Pokemon Black/White 2. More critically however is that the leak includes information about several upcoming Pokemon games that Game Freak is working on, including Pokemon Legends Z-A, as well as the next generation Pokemon titles.

You can read a summary of the key info below:

  • The Switch’s successor is mentioned, using the previously leaked codename “Ounces”.
  • Pokemon Legends Z-A is seemingly complete, and will be release for the original Switch.
  • The next Generation Pokemon titles (Gen 10) are codenamed “Gaia
    • Will come in two versions codenamed “Version K” and “Version N”.
    • Will release mainly for Switch 2, but the Switch 1 is also mentioned in the code, suggesting it will release on both platforms.
    • Will apparently take place in a Greece-inspired region
  • New project codenamed “Synapse” being worked on by both Game Freak and ILCA
    • Will be a multiplayer / battle focused title
    • Is described as being “Splatoon-Like”
  • Possible Pokemon MMO
    • A folder labelled “MMO” is present in the leak
    • Unknown if this is related to Project Synapse mentioned above

Those who got their hands on the leak are still combing through the files, so its likely that even more info will surface in time. Stay tuned for more updates on the situation as they come.
