Rumor: Game Freak Hacker Hints More Pokemon Scarlet/Violet Updates And Events Are In The Works

Last Week, Game Freak was hit by a massive data breach which reportedly included source codes for recently released Pokemon games.

Following the breach, the hacker responsible have released a number of these past source codes, including ones for Pokemon Legends Arceus and Pokemon Sword and Shield. However, the hacker has reportedly refused to share the source code for Pokemon Scarlet And Violet.

In a private setting, the hacker claimed that they were concerned that leaking the source code could cause Game Freak to cancel future events and updates planned for the game, as information about these are presumably present there. They were also concerned that information about Nintendo’s next console could be revealed, potentially drawing further ire from the notoriously litigious company.

After this private message was leaked, many have begun speculating on what these future events and updates could be. Some believe that it could be a major update related to the Switch 2, which matches well with the hacker’s expressed concerns. In addition, prior to the release of Pokemon Scarlet/Violet’s DLC, a rumor claimed that Game Freak was working on a “graphical enhancement” to the game for “new switch models”. This rumor later turned out to contain accurate information about the DLC’s contents, lending it more legitimacy.

As with all rumors of this nature, we caution readers to take them with a grain of salt. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
