Nintendo Switch Console Prices To Increase By Up To USD50 In The US And Canada

American retailer Target has adjusted their prices for Nintendo Switch consoles ahead of the August 3 pricing update in the United States.

According to prices taken from the retailer’s official website, Nintendo Switch consoles will see a 13% to 15% price increase in the United States.

Here are the old and new prices:

  • Nintendo Switch – USD299.99 -> USD339.99 (USD40 increase)
  • Nintendo Switch Lite – USD199.99 -> USD229.99 (USD30 increase)
  • Nintendo Switch OLED Model – USD349.99 -> USD399.99 (USD50 increase)

The price increases for the US market are higher than those that have taken effect on August 1 in Canada.

Here are the old and new prices for Nintendo Switch hardware in the Canadian market in Canadian dollars:

  • Nintendo Switch – CAD399.99 -> CAD419.99 (CAD20 / USD14 increase)
  • Nintendo Switch Lite – CAD259.99 -> CAD279.99 (CAD20 / USD14 increase)
  • Nintendo Switch OLED model – CAD449.99 -> CAD489.99 (CAD40 / USD29 increase)

The disparity between the US and Canada price adjustments suggest that the price increases in Canada mostly came from exchange rate fluctuations, whereas tariff issues seem to be the biggest motivating factor for the US, as tariffs will increase the cost of goods imported into the US.

It’s worth noting that Nintendo manufactures Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch hardware for the US market in Vietnam. As of August 1, a 20% tariff is applied to goods imported into the US, an increase from the temporary 10% baseline tariff that took effect during tariff negotiations from April to July 2025.

While no price increases were announced for Nintendo Switch 2 at this point of time, Nintendo hasn’t ruled out any further adjustments in the future for both the US and Canada markets.
