Animal Crossing: New Horizons Has Become The 2nd Bestselling Game Of All Time In Japan
Animal Crossing: New Horizons has reached an incredible milestone in Japan – it has become the second bestselling game of all time in just 4 months since its launch.
According to Game Data Library, Animal Crossing: New Horizons sold 7,150,000 copies as of May 31, 2020. Since June 2020, the game has sold another 350,000 copies in Japan, so lifetime sales are over 7.5 million copies now.
At 7.5 million copies, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has outsold Pokemon Gold/Silver, Super Mario Bros., New Super Mario Bros., and many other titles. The only game left to dethrone is Pokemon Red/Green, which sold 10,230,000 copies in Japan.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons becomes the 3rd all time best selling game in Japan, only behind the first 2 Pokémon games.
It became the best selling game on a single SKU, breaking the 30 year old record of the original Super Mario Bros.
